For Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, the Law Ministry has scrutinized draft rules of cyber crime and sent to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication for notification. On Thursday, this was revealed before Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication in the meeting with Rubina Khalid.
It was observed that new recruitments and gadgets are needed besides having new rules only as FIA has a lot of responsibilities to prevent cybercrimes. Senator Rehman Malik said, “FIA requirements need to be met even if we frame rules.”
Before addressing any void, Ministry of IT&T is directed by the committee to share the draft rules. Chairperson Committee directed the formation of a sub-committee under Secretary IT to gain consensus of all stakeholders.
In the earlier meeting regarding payment of increased pension and other allowances to the pensioners of Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP), Committee started the meeting with the discussion on its implementation status.
Secretary IT briefed the issue to the committee and stated that pay scale 2015 and 2016 were to be adopted and pensions were raised for TIP pensioners in 2016.
On 31st January 2018 in its 192nd meeting, TIP Board of directors has approved new pay scale for the year 2015 and 2016 and raise the pensions in 2016, subject to the concurrence from Finance Division. On 6 April 2018 in its 193rd meeting case was once again placed before TIP Board of Directors.
Principal Accounts Officer (PAO) of Ministry IT was decided to resolve the matter instead of the Finance Division, the Secretary IT, and Telecommunication. Secretary IT approved adoption of pay scale 2015 and 2016 and raise in pension in 2016 vide letter No. 8(%).2017-(F&A); dated 28 June 2018.
Pending liabilities were cleared and management of TIP processed the case and adopted pay scale 2015 and 2016 and raise in pensions in 2016 in line with approval by Secretary IT. Secretary stated about the payments that were made on the announcement by the government of Pakistan up to 30 June 2018.
In both heads, total PKR 84.952 million was made. Senator Rubina Khalid; Chairperson Committee; on behalf of all members, lauded the Ministry and said that a huge milestone has been achieved in this regard.
